Emmanuella Doussis, BA (NKUA), DEA Droit International Public (Paris I, Panthéon-Sorbonne), DEA Droit de l’environnement (Paris I, Panthéon-Sorbonne), PhD (NKUA), is Professor of International Institutions at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), UNESCO Chairholder on Climate Diplomacy and Director of the Institute of European Integration and Policy. She lectures on international law and international organizations, international and European environmental law and policies, climate policies & diplomacy with a focus on Southeast Europe. She has been a Visiting Professor at several universities in France and Fulbright Visiting Scholar at the University of California, Berkeley, USA (2022). She has served as advisor to the rapporteur of the European Economic and Social Committee for the preparation of the opinion on EU Climate Diplomacy (2023). She coordinates a Jean Monnet module on climate policies and diplomacy in Southeast Europe (2024-2027). She is a member of the National Council of Foreign Affairs, the National Commission on Adaptation to Climate Change, the IUCN World Environmental Law Committee and the Committee of the International Law Association on the contributions of international law to the SDGs. In 2021 she was awarded the Natural Resources International Legal Specialist Award (CISDL) and in 2024 the award of teaching excellence by the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
